Every small business runs on email. Quotes, invoices, client questions, the endless supplier back-and-forth — and the person answering it all is usually the same person running the business. This is exactly the kind of work AI is good at: reading a long thread and pulling out what matters, finding the email you half-remember, drafting a reply you only need to check and send.

The catch isn't whether AI can help. It's whether you can let it near your email without lying awake wondering what else it can see.

The two walls a small business hits

Connecting an AI assistant to your work email usually runs into one of two problems.

The first: the assistant you like might not connect to your email at all. Plenty of AI tools have no way in to Microsoft 365, so the "workflow" becomes copy-paste — and the hour you hoped to save quietly disappears.

The second is worse. When a tool does connect, the access is often all-or-nothing. It reads the whole mailbox — sometimes every mailbox in the business — on trust. For a small team handling client-confidential email, "trust us" is not an access policy. One person's assistant should see one person's inbox. Not the owner's, not the accounts inbox, not everyone's.

We wanted to close both gaps at once.

A connector any AI can plug into

So we built an email connector for Microsoft 365 that isn't tied to a single AI product. It speaks an open standard — the Model Context Protocol, or MCP — which is fast becoming the common language between AI assistants and the tools they use. If your assistant supports MCP, and a growing list already does, it can use the connector today. If it doesn't yet, the same connector is waiting the day it does. You're not betting your office on one vendor's roadmap.

Through it, an assistant can do the everyday inbox jobs:

The jobWhat the assistant does
Find that email from three weeks agoSearches only your mailbox
Get ready for a callSummarises the thread and pulls the attachments
Answer a clientWrites the reply and leaves it in your Drafts
Open a colleague's inboxRefused by Microsoft 365, every time

That third row matters more than it looks. The connector can prepare email but it cannot send it. Every reply sits in your Drafts folder for a human to read and press send. Nothing leaves your business without you.

Access that's enforced, not promised

The part we care about most is who can see what.

Each person's assistant is connected to that person's mailbox and no other. And the wall between them isn't a rule in our software that we ask you to trust — it's enforced by Microsoft 365 itself. If an assistant is ever pointed at a mailbox it wasn't granted, Microsoft turns the request away at the source. A bug in the software, or a cleverly worded instruction slipped into an email, can't talk its way past it, because the permission to see that mailbox was never handed out in the first place.

For a small business that's the whole difference — between "the AI probably only looks at the right inbox" and "the AI can only look at the right inbox." Same words. Very different night's sleep.

Enterprise control, small-business simple

Large companies already buy this kind of scoped, accountable access to email. The tools exist; what a five- or ten-person business doesn't have is someone on staff to wire them up safely. That's the gap we work in — taking controls built for the enterprise and making them practical, and affordable, for an Australian small business. You get the AI help without taking on enterprise risk or an enterprise bill.

What's your story?

This began as one specific need: a couple of people who wanted an AI assistant on their email, each locked to their own inbox. It's built, it's live, and it looks a little different for every business we talk to.

So we'd rather ask than assume. What does it look like for you? Maybe it's email. Maybe it's quotes, or your calendar, or the pile of admin that eats your Fridays. Tell us the job you wish you could hand off — and the line you don't want an AI to cross — and we'll help you work out whether it's ready to automate today.

That's your story and your need. We're here to help.
