This continues the Reach series. The last update covered inward access, device visibility and managed Windows support. Here's what's shipped since.
If you use Reach from more than one place — interstate, overseas, or on a client's network — you've probably wanted two things: to choose where your traffic comes out, and to trust that the connection won't quietly drop in the middle of a task. The last few weeks have been about exactly those two things: giving you control over the route, and taking the fragile bits out of the path.
Choose where you come out
Reach now runs exit locations across the Asia-Pacific — Singapore, Hong Kong and Taiwan — and you pick the one you want from the app. Before, you took whatever the default was. Now the choice is yours, and it matters for two different reasons.
If you're travelling or working across borders, a closer exit is usually a faster one — pick the region nearest to where you actually are and pages load quicker. If you're using Reach so a supplier portal or a client's firewall sees a consistent, known location, you can settle on one region and stay on it, so your egress point doesn't move around underneath you.
The app checks each available gateway when you open the picker and shows you which ones are responding, so you're choosing from what's actually up — not a static list.
A connection that adapts to where you are
Not every network treats a connection the same way. An open café Wi-Fi is very different from a corporate network that inspects traffic, which is different again from a country that actively blocks ordinary VPNs. So Reach now has a Connection mode setting, and by default it reads the situation for you.

In practice you leave it on Auto. When you're somewhere with heavy restrictions — the kind of network that blocks ordinary VPNs outright — Auto quietly switches to Disguise so the connection still comes up, and switches back to a faster mode when you're on an open network. If you'd rather decide yourself, the manual choice always wins. The point is that someone landing in a difficult location shouldn't have to know any of this to stay online.
Usage limits that keep you online
Every plan has a data allowance, and the honest problem with allowances is what happens when you reach one. The worst version — the version we used to have — is a connection that simply stops working and leaves you guessing whether it's the network, the app, or your account.
Two changes fix that. The first shipped last month: limited mode replaces the dead connection with a clear page that explains you've hit your limit, shows your usage, and links straight to a top-up — pay, and you're moving again in seconds.
The second is quieter but matters more day to day. The part of Reach that counts your usage now runs on our own infrastructure, right alongside the gateways, instead of depending on an outside service. That plumbing used to sit in the data path, which meant a hiccup in usage tracking could interrupt your browsing. It can't any more — if the metering ever stutters, your connection carries on regardless, and the counting catches up afterward. You shouldn't lose your connection over our bookkeeping, and now you won't.
Reach on all your devices
Reach is meant to be the same wherever you work, so the app has been spreading out. The Android app is on Google Play. The desktop app for Windows, macOS and Linux updates itself in place, so you get fixes and new regions without hunting for a download. The iOS app and a native Mac app are in final review with Apple and are on the way to the App Store.
The apps now speak 17 languages and follow your device's language automatically — a small thing that makes Reach usable for a whole team, not just the person who set it up.

The previous update introduced inward access — letting authorised members of your organisation reach in to a machine on your network, from anywhere, without opening a single firewall port. We've been building out the part that carries that traffic, and it now runs on the same regional gateways above, close to you in the Asia-Pacific rather than routed through a third party.
The piece we're finishing is the desktop side: a Share this PC switch. Flip it on a machine — your office desktop, a server, an RDP box — and authorised teammates can reach it securely from wherever they are, with nothing exposed to the open internet. When you're sharing, Reach automatically routes over a gateway that supports it and tells you as much in the app.
